BARKitecture? The Ultimate Pet Trend For First Time Home Buyers
Hi, it's the weekend! I hope yours is off to a fantastic start, despite the 35 degree weather, on this Saturday morning. This post is for all the Houston first time home buyers pet owners. A longtime friend of mine, recently had a new dog bowl, a rocabar dog leash (which I am almost certain she will never use) a rocabar blanket, dog bowl, dog shampoo, and new dog bed delivered. All from Hermes. All for her Pomeranian's fully BARKitecture spaces in her first home.
If you are a pet owner and never heard the word BARKitecture, please give me a minute, or less than, and I will get you up to speed. BARKitecture is a term, originally used to describe the design and construction of dog houses and other structures, specifically for dogs and cats. The term has however, over time, grown into now, a very popular trend due to its ability to incorporate more pet-friendly features throughout your home that both you and your pet(s) can enjoy.
Some pet owners view their pet(s) as true family members. In a recent survey, most say they would pass on their dream home if it did not suit their pet(s). Pet-friendly property features like a fenced-in-yard with a dog run or a catio (a catio is a cat enclosure for your indoor or outdoor cat) have risen to the top of home buyers list. According to National Association of REALTORS, 43% of households indicate that they would be willing to move, to better accommodate their pet(s) needs.
How do you incorporate BARKitecture? You may start with a dog wash and feeding stations. If you are looking for an easier and less messy way to give your dog a quick bath after a backyard romp in the mud, why not add a dog wash station in the mud-room? One of the benefits of home-grooming is, it's a great way to bond and connect or re-connect with your furry friend. Can you feel the love?
Another popular trend is installing hidden food and watering stations, like the one above, that make feeding time much easier. These built-in feeding stations can be incorporated into the kitchen island, and can include a pot-filler for the pet's water bowl. Some pet owners have even converted pantry into luxurious pet lounge. Wow! I am so totally into that.
A properly groomed and well fed pet will be happier and healthier, which as pet owners, we all strive for. Yes, we know that pets need a clean bed, two bowls, toys and lots of love, however, if you are looking to go that extra few miles BARKitecture may be the way to go. Woof woof. Or meow.
