Brutalism 2026 Home Design Trend
Good morning and welcome to Houston First Time Home Buyers Edition, where we provide useful information to help you make the most informed decision when it comes to buying, decorating, and maintaining your first home. Today we're touching on decor. More specifically, Brutalism style decor.
While the official name is Brutalist, think Flintstones Chic, whatever you choose to call it, it is one of the 2026 trends in home decor. While not really prehistoric, it is however, from the past. What isn't? Right. Think no-frills 1960s and 1970s.
It seems the years of trim minimalism is out, (at least for some, but never for me. Always was and always will be a minimalist) and a more monolithic look is in. A search for Brutalist designers will surprise you. People want unusual, and interior designers are delivering. At a price of course. That price is not really for the price sensitive buyers. Style buyers yes, price sensitive, no.
If you are interested in turning your terrace into a posh retreat, you may think Brutalist furniture may look a bit, well, beastly, but not really. While these pieces may be more approachable than their 1960-1970s counterparts, you may want to use the pieces (a) sparingly or (b) combine them with more delicate pieces. Either way, whatever choice you make, will be the right one for you.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by. Remember, if you are thinking of purchasing your first home, please contact us. We are here to help. We have been helping Houston first time home buyers since 2011 and we can help you. I hope you have an amazing day. Until next time...Diana
