Can I Use My Social Security Disability or Social Security Income to Buy a House?
Hello and welcome to Houston first time home buyers edition. We are addressing the question, if you can use your social security disability or social security income to purchase a house. The answer is yes. You can use your social security disability or social security income to buy a house. Most lenders will accept social security disability and social security as reliable sources of income when applying for FHA, VA, USDA and conventional mortgage loans.
Do keep in mind during your mortgage loan process, the lender will generally look for income expected to continue for at least 3 years. In addition to other documents, the lender will require a copy of your social security award letter showing your benefits amount. For more information, speak with your Realtor, he or she can refer you to a loan officer that will address all your questions and concerns.
