Hello and welcome to Houston First Time Home Buyers Edition. It is no surprise that applying for a mortgage loan will require a lot of paperwork. Here is a quick reminder of the document you may be asked to provide that may include but not limited to:

  • 2 Years tax return.

  • W-2s.

  • Pay stubs.

  • Checking account statement.

  • Saving account statement.

  • 401K statement.

  • IRAs and stock.

  • Social security card.

  • Driver’s license.

  • Gift letter if getting help from family with down payment and or closing cost.

  • Letter of Explanation (LOE) regarding credit inquiries.

While there are other documents that may be requested such as child support payment documents, schedule C and divorce decree, the above mentioned are the basic.
