How Do Credit Agencies Get My Information They Use to Create Credit Report?

Happy Friday. While we will be writing all through the weekend and beyond, we know you will be gearing up for the Labor Day weekend. We hope you have loads of fun.

Let us get on with where do credit agencies get our information they use to create credit reports. I did not give them mine in the first place, did you? Well, the three credit agencies get our information from companies that include but not limited to:

  • Public records that include bankruptcy filings, property records and wage garnishments

  • Self reported alternative data from utility bill, rent payment, and other sources that you report yourself. (this is typical when someone is trying to build credit)

  • Auto lenders

  • Debt collection agencies

  • Mortgage lenders

  • Banks

  • Credit unions

  • Credit card companies

The information collected from these sources is then used to create and sell your credit report to lenders, employers, insurance companies and more.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by. Remember, if you are thinking of purchasing your first home, please give us a call 713.204.8013 or Email us. We are here to help. We have been helping Houston first time home buyers since 2011 and we can help you. I hope you have an amazing day. Until next time...Diana
