Top 5 Crooked Contractors That Scam Their Clients often

Hello and welcome to Houston First Time Home Buyers Edition, formally First Home Houston (FHH), where we provide useful information to help Houston first time home buyers make the most informed decision when it comes to buying, decorating, and maintaining their first home.
According to a new report on contractor corruption, 1 in 10 American have been a victim of a contractor scam. Here is the list of top 5 contractors that scam their clients the most.
General contractors.
Home improvement contractors.
Roofing contractors.
Plumbers.
Electrician.
Of those who were scammed by a contractor, 34% were referrals from family or friends, while 29% found their contractors online. 40% of these contractors frequently arrived late or did not show up at all. While 26% added extra charges or fees that was not previously discuses and 25% simply refused to answer questions about most things including the process.
While 53% reported the scam to the Better Business Bureau, 26% reported the matter to the police, 23% report it to the state attorney general office and 17% reported it to the Consumer protection agency. Only 28% were fully reimbursed, 23% received partial reimbursement and 49% received nothing. Average lost, $2,426.
