English word “Easter” is said to comes from Eostre, or Eostrae, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring and fertility
The earliest recorded observance of an Easter celebration occurred in the 2nd century.
Several other Christian holidays and observances are tied to Easter, including Lent and Good Friday.
The use of painted and decorated Easter eggs was first recorded in the 13th century. The egg itself became a symbol of the Resurrection.
The custom of associating a rabbit with Easter arose in Protestant areas in Europe in the 17th century and became common in the 19th century.
The Easter lily was first associated with Easter in the 19th century, after it was introduced to England in 1819 and America in 1880.

Meaning of Easter Colors
Yellow - victory, wealth, sunshine, joy, new life, brightness, and happiness.
Purple - royalty and spiritual reflection
Pink - joy and love
Green - growth, life, hope, new beginnings, renewed and eternal life
White - resurrection
