Not just for investors, carrying costs in real estate, also called holding costs, are the recurring expenses that are in addition to your mortgage, insurance, and property taxes and includes but not limited to:

  • Major repairs

  • Routine maintenance

  • HOA dues

  • Electricity

  • Gas

  • Water

  • Landscape

 These are some of the cost associated with owning any real estate. Keeping these in consideration when purchasing your home, can help to reduce, if not eliminate financial stress. Being aware of these cost, will help you to set up your budget to accommodate all of the above.  A home warranty can help you with the more expensive repairs and replacements such as roof, HVAC, electrical, water or foundation issues.
