What is a Credit Freeze?

Top of the morning to you and welcome to Houston first time home buyers edition. What exactly is a credit freeze? A credit freeze helps to prevent identity theft and credit card fraud by restricting access to your credit reports.

Federal law requires that each of the three major credit agencies, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion offer credit freezes at no charge. They are also required to unfreeze your credit for free upon request.
