15 Survey Codes Houston First Time Home Buyers May Choose to Know

Hello and welcome to Houston First Time Home Buyers Edition, formally First Home Houston (FHH), where we provide useful information to help Houston first time home buyers make the most informed decision when it comes to buying, decorating, and maintaining their first home.
One of the document you will receive at the closing of your new home is a survey. If its your first time viewing a survey up close, you may find yourself asking, what are all these information and what do they mean.
Well, not to worry. We have made it easy for you to not only ask these questions but to find and understand the answers as well. That said, here are 15 codes located under the heading Legend, that you will find on the left side of your survey.
CATV - cable TV
EM - electric meter
A a/c unit
FDC - fire department connection
FH - fire hydrant
GV - gas valve
GM - gas meter
LP - light pole
S - sanitary sewer manhole
D - Storm water manhole
T - telephone pedestal
UC- utility cabinet
UV - utility vault
WSO - water shut off
WM - water meter
